Nokia mocks Android 4.4 Kit Kat on Twitter With Microsoft

His year it’s been the norm for manufacturers to bash each other. A prime example of this is when HTC hammered down on Samsung and flaunted the HTC One for taking home the “Hottest Phone of 2013″ award.

Now it’s Nokia turn. On Twitter, the one-time leader in mobile device market-share, has poked fun at Google’s name for the next version of Android – 4.4 Kit Kat. The image was created by Nokia Deutschland and shows the words “Have a break” with a Samsung GS3 being cut in half – which could also take a shot at Samsung’s all-plastic design.

Nokia just sold its devices and services unit to Microsoft this week, and it's clearly feeling fairly confident about its future prospects. In a Twitter post from its German account, Nokia is issuing a KitKat themed death threat to Samsung's Android handsets. An image of a Galaxy S3 broken in half, just like a KitKat chocolate bar, is accompanied by the famous advertising line "have a break." Nokia's tweet follows Google's announcement of Android 4.4 "KitKat" earlier this week. Although it's a fairly violent parody of KitKat's advertising, it's clearly meant in jest as Nokia battles for share in the smartphone market.

Nokia is not afraid to tackle Samsung's smartphone dominance head on. In the past the Finnish smartphone maker has "welcomed" Samsung back to Windows Phone by mocking its Ativ S announcement. Just earlier this week, Nokia UK parked a truck nearby a Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom billboard to hijack the marketing with a Nokia Lumia 1020 ad. Despite Nokia's marketing efforts, it still hasn't managed to make a significant dent in Samsung's smartphone dominance. In the latest quarter Samsung shipped over 70 million smartphones, while Nokia's Lumia sales hit a record of 7.4 milliion. Microsoft hopes to triple that figure by 2018, but it hasn't started issuing KitKat death threats against Samsung just yet.
